Walter- Adoption Pending!

American Staffordshire Terrier & Pit Bull Terrier Mix • Senior (Approx. 6 years) • Male • Medium-Sized

Meet Walter. He was confiscated with 13 other dogs and was the grandpa of the group. He is very, very sweet and extremely mellow and loves to just snuggle and sleep at home. He does great at home and is very low maintenance. He gets most excited when he is about to go out on a walk and does a happy dance. Oh, and if you have cheese for him, he might just commit to being your best friend forever.

Walter has great leash skills and does great walking around dog heavy neighborhoods. He is a little unsure meeting new dogs up close so needs to take it slow. The foster does believe that Walter would be able to live in a home with another dog with proper introductions!

I come with free training for life from Safe Humane. Click here to learn more about the program!

MORE ABOUT WALTER:

  • Dogs: Yes, with slow intros
  • Cats: Yes, lives with two furry foster kitties
  • Children: Yes, with all ages
  • House-trained: Yes
  • Energy level: Low energy/couch potato

Jilly – Adoptable

Staffordshire Bull Terrier & Jack Russell Terrier Mix • Adult (Approx. 3 years) • Female • Medium-Sized

I’m Jilly Beans! I’m about 3 years old and would consider myself a high energy girl. My foster mom says I’m loving, protective, athletic, snuggly, and a total goof ball (whatever that is).
Cuddling with my humans is my favorite. The closer I can get the better. My foster mom thinks I have boney elbows but I tell her that’s what happens when you’re a beautiful velvet hippo like me.

I have anxiety so I take medication that really helps me be the best Jilly I can be. It helps me focus when I’m training, relax while my foster humans are at work, and deal with city life’s everyday stressors. New dogs, especially small ones, really over-stimulate me so it’s important for my future family to understand my needs and continue my training once I’m adopted. Slow introductions with four legged friends is a must. I currently live with a 125lb foster sister who loves to play and ‘wrassle’ with me but she is also very understanding and patient when it comes to my “little sister shenanigans.” I haven’t been around human siblings but think I would do well with older kids who have JRT/Pittie experience. I like to eat alone because I love food/treats but don’t really like to share. I would love a family who is active or has a big fenced in yard so I can burn off my extra energy. I love to play fetch. I love it so much that I forget to “drop it” sometimes so we can keep playing, oops! It will be important that my future family continues my training because I really enjoy it!

Sometimes I get discouraged because I think my anxiety scares people away because I might be “too much work.” My foster mom tells me to keep my head up because there’s nothing wrong with me, the perfect family just hasn’t come along yet. Could you be my perfect forever?

MORE ABOUT JILLY BEAN:

  • Dogs: I’m a girl that needs several doggy dog dates before I know whether I like your company.
  • Cats: They are too boring, so I will pass.
  • Children: Kids over 10 due to my energy.
  • House-trained: Yes, but sometimes I really gotta go and can’t hold it!
  • Crate-trained: No, but does great in a gated off area in the house
  • Obedience: Knows basic commands, very quick learner and treat motivated
  • Energy Level: High energy

Gordie – Adoptable **DOG OF THE MONTH**

American Staffordshire Terrier & American Bull Dog Mix • Adult (Approx. 2 years) • Male • Medium-Sized

Hi! I’m Gordie. I’m about 2 years and I am a ton of fun! I love to play tug-of-war, take car rides, visit Home Depot (I call it Home GOR-depot!), and meet people everywhere I go. I beg every day for a walk – even if it’s a short one. I love exploring the world and am looking for a family who likes to do that, too. I’m one of the Peace for Pits Respits, which means I visit the residents of a nursing home to give and get some love. Meeting people is the highlight of my day. I can’t help it – everyone loves me!

I’m over 100lbs of American Bulldog hunk, which is saying a LOT because it wasn’t very long ago that I was malnourished and very sick. I have a condition called ichythyosis [ick-thee-O-sis], but my foster family has lots of tips and tricks to help keep that in check. My skin is dry and I have some bald patches. Oh, and I get more baths than other dogs – but I LOVE my baths. It’s not so hard to deal with. Let’s do it together!

When my foster parents leave home, I get quality time in my crate. Otherwise, I throw parties and they don’t seem to like that too much. I have no problem going in my crate since all my favorite toys and treats are in there.

Click here to donate to his medical expenses.

MORE ABOUT GORDIE:

  • Dogs: Best as only dog/Need very slow intro to non-dominant dogs
  • Cats: No cats
  • Kids: Loves kids, but is a big guy and a little clumsy, so needs to be kids who can handle that
  • House-trained: Yes
  • Crate-trained: Yes
  • Obedience: Knows basic commands, loves learning new things, highly food-motivated
  • Energy Level: High energy in spurts

Bijou – Adoptable

American Staffordshire Terrier & Pit Bull Terrier Mix • Young (Approx. 1-1.5 years) • Female • Medium-Sized

Hi – I’m Bijou! After nearly two months at CACC where I was found as a stray, I’m getting the hang of being a family dog. I LOVE people and am very loyal to my foster parents. I follow them around whenever I can and am always happy to cuddle and give kisses. I have two foster brothers at home. I was pretty suspect of both of them when I first moved in, but now we’re cool. I’m tighter with the dominant one than the more submissive one, but slowly but surely we are all getting along. I don’t always do well with other dogs the first time I meet them and need to be introduced to new dogs slowly and carefully. My foster family are going to start taking me to socialization classes so I can get better at making friends.

My foster family has been working on my training. I am really food motivated so they think I would do great in obedience classes. It took some time, but I even learned how to use a doggie door at my foster family’s home to go do my business all by myself. I also know to stand by the door if I need to go out. I don’t really like being crated and get anxious if I am left alone, but I am working hard on getting used to it!

I’m only about 45 pounds but eventually I should start putting on some weight and might get as big as 55 or 60 pounds. I love going for walks and running around in big open spaces. My foster parents say I do pretty well on my walks, but sometimes can get a little excited and pull/dart a little when I see something interesting. Sometimes I get the zoomies and will even show off my running 360s. People seem to love it when I do that. I don’t really quite understand the concept of playing catch/fetch yet, but I know I will get it eventually!

MORE ABOUT BIJOU:

  • Dogs: Yes, with slow introductions
  • Cats: Unsure of cats when tested
  • Children: No kids in foster home, but seems good
  • House-trained: Yes
  • Crate-trained: In-progress, still a bit anxious when crated
  • Obedience: Knows sit and has good name-recognition. VERY food motivated
  • Energy Level: High energy

Casey Moran – Adoptable

American Staffordshire Terrier & Pit Bull Terrizer Mix • Young (Approx. 2 years) • Male • Large-Sized

Hi my name is Casey Moran and I am about 2 years old and 75 lbs. If you are looking for a lap dog I am your boy. I love to snuggle on the couch with my blankets, people and pet friends. I have some anxiety and just want to be near my pack, but once I know the schedule I relax and am very easy going. I enjoy being outside, rolling in the grass, running with my foster pup brother and sunning myself. Bulley sticks and cheese are my favorite special treats. I am very motivated to learn new tricks and I am currently in training to be the best dog I can be. I am a quick learner… I already know sit, down and wait and have mastered the perfect head tilt that will melt your heart! I dream of a loving home where I can be my goofy, cuddly self. He loves people, other dogs, and cats. He will do well in nearly every house, but he cannot be with small humans, because they stress him out.

He eats well, loves to play tug-o-war, hang out, drink from sprinklers, go for smell-the -roses type walks, and if he can find a spot for sunbathing he will do it!

Juju-bee – Adoptable

American Staffordshire Terrier & Pit Bull Terrier Mix • Puppy (Approx. 10 months) • Female • Medium-Sized

Hi! I’m Juju-bee and I’m a 10 month old puppy looking for her furever home. I had a rough start to my life, so I’m still trying to catch up on my training with the help of my foster family. They always tell me I’m so smart and that they are confident I will catch up in no time with the right family. Did I mention that I know sit, down, and can give paw when asked to? I live with my 25lb fur foster sister, who I love to play with and rough house. I would benefit most from a family who can keep up with my high puppy energy or a family with a confident dog who can show me the ropes. I’m unfazed by most big noises, except for the vacuum when it tries to invade my personal space.

I love playing with squeaky toys, balls, going on walks, running in the backyard, chewing on bones, laying on the couch, going on car rides, admiring myself in the mirror J, getting belly scratches, giving kisses, and cuddling. I’m still working on loving my crate, because I love to be around people and get lonely when I’m in it. The best qualities my foster family loves about me are my cute, floppy ears, my pretty eyes (especially the sleepy eyes I give early in the morning), my goofy personality, and my wiggly tail. My future parents should be able to provide me with lots of exercise, training, patience, and love.

Sgt. Pepper – Adoptable

American Staffordshire Terrir, Pit Bull Terrier Mix • Young (Approx. 1-2 years) • Male • Medium-Sized

Prior to being rescued by peace for pits, young Pepper was confiscated by police when he was found to be living with other dogs in an outdoor enclosure in deplorable conditions.

Despite his past, pepper has proved to be a friendly and good natured boy. Pepper loves chew toys, running, play fetch and foraging for treats using nose work. He would do best with an active family in a home with a large fenced yard.

Pepper currently lives with 2 children under five years old and although he’s child friendly, he’d do best in a home with older kids who better match his size and endurance.

I come with free training for life from Safe Humane. Click here to learn more about the program!

Lone Star – Adoptable

American Staffordshire Terrier & Pit Bull Terrier Mix • Adult (Approx. 4 years) • Male • Large-Sized

Lone Star? What does his foster say? “He’s a handsome 75 lb beefcake. 🙂 He’s done well meeting other dogs, adults and older kids (8+yrs). He has not met any cats or younger kids yet. He’s crate trained, walks well on leash, but can pull when he’s excited. He’s starting basic manners class this week – he already has pretty good manners knows sit, down, working on stay & leave it. He gets really excited when he sees other dogs, so we’re looking forward to working on his skills in a distracting environment. His favorite toys right now are puzzle games, like playing the muffin tin game and treat dispensing toys. He is just getting into his snuffle mat. He’s great on car rides and likes running errands. He was easy to handle at the vet. At home he’s pretty chill and doesn’t wander too far from us. He gets the zoomies at night every once in awhile and is quite athletic. :)”

Hugo – Adoptable

American Staffordshire Terrier & Pit Bull Terrier Mix • Adult (Approx. 3 years) • Male • Medium-Sized

Hello I’m Hugo!! Im almost 3 years old but still have the playful personality of a puppy! My favorite activities include playing with my foster brother, chewing on bones, and occasionally running around the back yard like a mad man. My foster parents tell me that I give amazing snuggles and that my fur is as soft as velvet! I don’t want to brag but they also tell me that I’m the most handsome doggo they’ve ever met with my big ole ears. They also keep telling my I am goofy because my paws are so big that sometimes I don’t know what to do with them. This makes my foster parents ??giggle lots. I am a very good boy and can be a calm couch potato or an energizer bunny depending on what we’re doing. I’m really good at picking up on your energy and returning it right back to you. Want to snuggle? Yes please! Want to play? Yes pleaseee!

I know lots of commands and am pretty good at taking direction. I haven’t demonstrated any destructive or naughty behaviors and my foster parents tell me I’m a very good boy. I am looking for a forever family that would be able to spend lots of time with me as I’m really social. I can be a little bit shy at first, but once I get to know you I will be hugging and kissing your face off! Give me a chance and I’ll be sure to love you forever and be a super good boy. I would do great in a home with no-kids or teenage kids because I am energetic!

MORE ABOUT HUGO:

  • Dogs: I love to play with my foster Brother! We can be found wrestling (gently of course!) playing tug of war, or swapping toys like mad men. When I’m not playing with my foster brother I am snuggling up to him for naps. I am generally submissive and would do well in a house with other dogs.
  • Cats: No cats in my house, so I’m not sure how I feel about them. However I am generally a very gentle boy who takes direction and think that I could be okay with a cat if we are introduced slowly.
  • Children: Plays well with kids, but should reside in a home without children or with older children.
  • House-trained: Oh boy am I a good boy! I am house broken and have never used the bathroom inside of my foster parents house. If I need to go out I will go to the door and let them know.
  • Crate-trained: I am a very good boy in my crate! While I prefer free roaming, I can be crated if you need me to be. While I am out of my crate I do not do anything destructive.
  • Obedience: I know all of the basic good boy commands. I can Sit, Stay, and Give Paw. I am still working on Down because for some reason that one confuses me, but my foster parents say I am very smart and are even teaching me advanced tricks like Roll over!! I am still a little bit excited on the leash and tend to pull a little bit. My foster parents are working on this with me, but my furever parents will probably need to too as it’s taking me a little while to stick to my good walking habits.
  • Energy Level: I can be a couch potato or I could be your hiking buddy. My foster family jokes that I’m like a kangaroo because every once in a while when I get excited I can jump so high!! I spend most of the day lounging with my foster brother, sleeping, or chewing on bones, but when I get the urge to play Oh boy do I want to play! I love to go out in the backyard and do zoomies and I love to play wrestle with my foster brother. I’m guess you could call me an energetic couch potato. I’ll pick up on whatever energy you’re giving off and return it!

I love going for walks, getting attention, and snuggling. I’m very easy to walk on a leash and always go to the bathroom outside. Blitz – Adoptable

American Staffordshire Terrier & Pit Bull Terrier Mix • Adult (Approx. TBD years) • Male • Medium-Sized

Hi! I’m Blitz. I was confiscated from my owner because he was charged with animal cruelty. I may not have had the best parents in the past – I flinch with overhead movements and shrink when I hear scary sounds.

Even with my history, I still happily wag my tail when meeting new people and new dogs. I am learning how to be a dog in my foster home and my foster mom is so proud of me! I even learned what a toy was the other day.

I would do well in a home maybe with another dog brother or sister who can teach me what it’s like to be a dog!

I come with free training for life from Safe Humane. Click here to learn more about the program!

Sundance – Adoptable

American Staffordshire Terrier & Pit Bull Terrier Mix • Young (Approx. 1 year) • Female• Medium-Sized

Sundance is really great, she loves attention and love. She likes to chew bones and play with toys. Once we get outside into the yard she bounds back and forth. She plays with the toys in the yard by herself. She sort of hops like a bunny. Very exuberant player. Will be a bit bossy with other dogs and would do best with a less dominant dog I think. She does bark at noise so would probably do better with a home over an apartment.

MORE ABOUT SUNDANCE:

  • Dogs: Yes, I’m a bit pushy and like to play so they have to be cool with that!
  • Cats: Not-tested
  • Children: I’m still working on my manners, so probably older kids who can handle my size!

Tiny – Adoptable

Chihuahua Mix • Adult (Approx. TBD) • Male • Small-Sized

Tiny is a 6-1/2 pound guard dog looking for a loving, codependent relationship. (In other words, he’s a great guy who could use a dog-savvy or extra-dedicated adopter to help him simmer down and smell the roses.) He’s fantastic in the house: he’s house trained, obedience trained, super attentive, and a MASTER snuggler. He especially loves being under the covers or zipped up inside your hoody. And because he hates being left at home alone, we’ve learned he’s great at doggy daycare and he loves running errands incognito — he’ll fall asleep in your tote bag while you shop. His greatest obstacles are separation anxiety (improving) and greeting new people (vastly improved)! He’s looking for an adopter with the right attitude to help him succeed completely.

MORE ABOUT TINY:

  • Dogs: Yes,small and large
  • Cats: Not-tested
  • Children: Yes, I’m a master snuggler
  • House-trained: Yes
  • Crate-trained: Working on it!

5

Petey (TT) – Adoptable

American Staffordshire Terrier & Pit Bull Terrier Mix • Adult (Approx. 4 years) • Male• Medium-Sized

He is a small (less than 45lbs) pocket pittie, approx. 4 years of age. TT loves to spend time with his peoples and can often be found snoozing in the lap of one or more humans. He has lived with young children and older dogs (male and female). TT likes to play (not nearly as much as he likes to nap!) and would be happy living with another dog(s) or in a single dog home. TT also enjoys toys (but does not seem to want to dismantle them) so having playings for him would be essential as well. The vet thinks TT may have had a traumatic injury earlier in life (to one or more legs) and he can sometimes be stiff when he gets up from sleeping – however this does not seem to stop him from jumping into your lap or running zoomies around the house. If you are looking for a 4 legged lap warmer that doesn’t need to marathons of exercise, TT is the pup for you!

MORE ABOUT PETEY (TT):

  • Dogs: Yes, both male and female
  • Cats: Not-tested (though seemed a bit wary)
  • Children: Good! Foster has 6 and 9 year olds
  • House-trained: Yes
  • Crate-trained: Yes (loves to chill in his crate!)
  • Obedience: Knows sit, could benefit from basic refresher for manners
  • Energy Level: Low/medium/as much energy as you have. LOVES to cuddle

Sir Bruno – Adoptable

Hi I’m Bruno! My favorite activity is cuddling – anywhere, anytime with anyone. If you give me a hug, I’ll be your best friend forever. I’m still just a baby, about 8-10 months old and 49lbs, but most of the time I think I’m a lap dog. When I’m not sleeping, I have a lot of energy, go big or go home right? I’m incredibly non-aggressive, you can touch my paws, put eye drops in my eyes, look at my teeth, make loud noises… very little scares me.

MORE ABOUT SIR BRUNO:
